Each year, Neighbors FCU hosts an online contest called Choose A Charity. We invite non-profits in the Greater Baton Rouge area to enter – with five finalists chosen. Then, the voting for a grand prize of $10,000 is open to the public.
2016’s winner was Cat Haven of Baton Rouge. Wendy Decker, Executive Director, shared a few ways the community can support their mission – to help Baton Rouge become a “no-kill community” for cats and kittens.
- Adopt a cat or kitten and encourage friends and family to do the same.
- Make regular donations of money or items from our Wish List.
- Share our posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Volunteer to help at the Cat Haven Adoption Center or at off-site partner locations.
- Attend the Cinco de Meow bowling tournament held in the spring or the Cat Haven Gala and Auction held in the fall.
“Every day is an adoption event at Cat Haven,” says Wendy. “We’re open from 12-6pm Monday through Saturday and 12-4pm on Sundays. We are happy to welcome potential adopters, volunteers and supporters to learn more about Cat Haven and our kitties.”
